Weʼve raised £365 to Raise funds for Leighton Hospital Maternity Ward

Funded on Sunday, 5th February 2017

Don't have time to donate right now?

    Story

On the 15th August 2015 my niece Phoebe Rose Scallan was stillborn due to multiple medical conditions at Leighton Hospital Maternity Ward.

After her arrival my brother and partner were assured she would of been put into a cold cot to preserve her so that, they and their family could spend as much time as possible with her before nature started to take its course.

Unfortunately on this day there were also other couples at the hospital who endured the same tragic and painful loss as my brother and partner, which resulted in a cold cot not being available to Phoebe.

This meant that they only had limited time to spend with her before she had to be transferred to the mortuary. From this point Kevin and Danielle both vowed to raise money for the hospital to ensure that there was enough cold cots available for these tragic circumstances.

It also highlighted to the whole family what a regular occurrence this actually is and how important it is for the family to spend as much time as possible with the babies on their arrival.

To help them raise funds towards this I vowed to undertake my biggest challenge yet and yesterday I signed up to complete the Race To The Stones Ultra Run in July 2017. This mainly consists in running 62 miles or 100k in under 24 hours. The route covers ground along the South West from Lewknow in Oxfordshire to the Thames crossing at Goring, the route then rises up onto the North Wessex Downs before finishing at the towering stones in Avebury.

It will be hard and tough both mentally and physically and therefore is the ultimate challenge therefore we ask that you dig deep into your pockets and donate whatever you can towards this fundraising for the Maternity Ward at Leighton Hospital.

Just to make everyone aware we are only able to have this page up until the 5th February 2017 therefore I will then be creating a new fundraising page and will continue with this one as well as sponsorship forms which we can then handover to the hospital to claim any gift aid back. Many thanks for the support so far.

Well training has started this week I have ran 10 miles in total and undertaken three strength classes and to say it hurts is an understatement everything aches. But onwards and upwards it will be worth it for such a great cause x
