The St Andrew‘s Parish Nurse service is provided through the One World Community group and outreach work partnering with other charity drop in services. It aims to help Asylum seekers and Refugees feel welcome, reduce social isolation and help them become part of the local community in St Helens. The One World team includes volunteer health Befrienders from St Andrew’s and from other faiths and the local community. At One World we celebrate our differences and give hope for a better shared future.

Parish Nurses are registered nurses commissioned by Churches to provide people of all ages and backgrounds, faith or no faith with wholistic healthcare at the heart of the community.

As St Andrew’s Parish Nurse I volunteer to provide general health advice to the church congrgactions and the wider Community. I also provide specialist support for physical, psychological and spiritual health needs for Asylum seekers & Refugees across St Helens: mental health support in times of trauma, illness or stress • education on self - care & help understanding long term conditions • listening & prayer, assistance accessing your spirituality / faith needs.• helping to acess GP/ NHS services. Advocate. • GP /NHS liaison
