Story
In June 2014 my Grandad Tom suffered from a stroke which has left him with limited mobility in his legs and unable to use his left hand. Its a challenge for a now 94 year old to adapt, but he has done tremendously still retaining his independence living at home alone.
I am convinced a large part of his confidence and determination is due to the help he has received from the The Stafford & District Stroke Club. The group is a welcoming social group providing peer support through recreational and social activities such as meals, outings, games, exercise, art and presentations from speakers. The group has won a number of community awards and 3 regional awards for Best Stroke Club.
I saw on a recent outing with them how much care and attention they give each individual, which for us living a distance away is a real comfort.
I want to raise money for them to enable them to keep up their good work.
So..........I will be running the Pain and Suffering Ultra obstacle race on 11th March 2017.
Described as: This is Pain & Suffering, one of the hardest obstacle races Great Britain has to offer. We have taken inspiration from fell running, cross country and obstacle racing to create the ultimate race challenge.
Set in the harsh terrain of the grounds of Rockingham Castle this 10 mile plus obstacle race is a hardcore challenge even for the most experienced runner. Think you’ve tried and beaten tough races before… think again, this is on another level!
If you’re after a race to test you mentally and physically this obstacle race fulfils your needs over and above. The only question is, are you tough enough to take it on.
So those of you that know me know i like to keep fit, but i don't run (at all) and monkey bars are my mennace, so its going to be a tough one!

7 years agoHurray I did it! It was grueling, painful and zapped every ounce of energy I had so that all I wanted to do in the end was cry with relief. Thank you so much to everyone who has supported me through funding or training or making me a yummy recovery dinner when I got home, a big hug goes out to you all. I'll keep you posted with how much money I finally raise, but for now thanks again x
