    Story

It is with regret to say that Rachel Greenhowe sadly passed away on 6th October 2017

Rachel first started her journey in November 2016 when she was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer, which means it was aggressive. In December she had an operation to remove the tumour and surrounding nodes and tissue which was deemed successful by the surgeon.

Rachel started chemotherapy in March 2017 this followed complications where the tissue that was regenerating wasn't doing as it should. In June 2017 Rachel was hoping that the news would be positive and that any remaining sessions wouldn't be required, unfortunately another lump was found which would mean having extra sessions instead.

In late June Rachel was taken into hospital and the cancer had sadly spread to her brain and lungs, when Rachel received this news there was just one wish for her and that was to be able to go on holiday with her two girls and John and with a massive thank you to all of those who donated before her wish did come true and in August Rachel went to Menorca.

Unfortunately while Rachel was in Menorca with her two girls and John she did become quite poorly and lost all feeling in her left side of her body and ended up in hospital out there. As a family we were fighting hard to get Rachel back on home grounds and this took a couple of weeks to happen but we got her back to the UK.

The last 4 weeks has been an emotional rollercoaster for anyone who knew Rachel and especially our family. We tried to get her back home and not kept in the hospital but Rachel was so weak and extremely poorly.

6th October 2017 Rachel grew her angel wings and off she went, she was content and still smiling right until the end. She had her family at her bedside and was made to feel at ease the whole way through.

For all of you that know Rachel she certainly bought so much joy and happiness into everyone's lives, she absolutely loved her family, friends and work place. In July 2017 although Rachel knew it was too late for herself she still done Race For Life to help raise money to support others and that's the sort of fighter she was she wouldn't let anything stop her from helping others.

With this fund raiser as a family we are hoping to give Rachel the best send off that she deserves. its been so nice to see how many peoples lives she's touched and their words and stories have been very comforting for our family.
