Weʼre raising £500 to Rainbow Blades - Sheffield United's LGBT+ & Allies Supporters Group
Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered nonprofit.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
Since our launch in April 2020, we've seen huge demand for this group. We now have over 180 members and 600 followers on twitter. In the past six months, we have recruited the committee, send out t-shirts and pin badges to members, held pre-match virtual socials before games, highlighted important issues such as Bi-Visibility Day, and continued a dialogue with the club in order to make Sheffield United inclusive for all.
THIS IS EVERYONE'S GAME
The footballing world has made great strides in recent times, beginning the journey to becoming inclusive for all. But, there's still a long way to go. We are grateful to all of our sporting colleagues in pursuit of this common goal, and for their support in establishing ourselves as an LGBT+ & Allies Supporters' Group.
From the earliest conversations, we have been overwhelmed by the support of the club, and we look forward to continuing our work with them as we plan more exciting campaign for 2021 and beyond.
We also couldn't have done any of these without the incredible support for the Football Supporters' Association, and in particular Anwar Uddin who heads up the FSA's Fans for Diversity Campaign. Until now, much of the merchandise we have needed has been kindly provided by the FSA, but there is a limit to how long this can continue. In order for Rainbow Blades to be sustainable, we need to be able to stand on our own two feet and fund future campaigns and project.
We were thrilled to announce Sheffield-based Urbana Town Planning as our first Corporate Sponsor. This has enabled us to fund some exciting additions to the Rainbow Laces matchday at the lane in December (that will be televised). We are seeking sponsors for other events, or for general funding. In return, you'll be given exposure and the chance to join an up and coming movement for inclusion in the steel city. Please get in touch with firstname.lastname@example.org if you'd like to discuss this further.
Aside from corporate sponsorship, we wanted to launch just giving as an opportunity for everyone to get involved in Rainbow Blades' next step on our journey. Any donation, however small, will help us to continue in our mission to make Sheffield United FC inclusive for all.
And finally, a word on our Charity of the Year for this 20/21 season. Sheffield-based charity, SAYiT, who are transforming the lives of LGBT+ young people & young people affected by HIV, through supportive group work, youth action, education & influence. Your donations will also enable us to continue working with them and giving back what they have provided us in support at the start of this journey.
