Story
Raphael Malone-Small was born weighing 8lb 5oz on the 10.10.17 a successful VBAC- hurrah!!
When he was born they found he has a congenital heart problem called pulmonary atresia with intact ventricular septum.
I know that people often want to know what they can do to help/ support in such a situation. We are well stocked with toys and clothes from when Atticus was a baby. And so if you would like to do something then please feel free to donate a couple of pounds to this page and we will give it to the absolutely wonderful, wonderful team of staff looking after Raphael and us at Alder Hey Children's Hospital here at the cardiology department, who's help and support are invaluable and endless.
Thank you
Elizabeth, Nathan, Atticus and Raphael
Xxx

6 years agoOh! I forgot, the fundrasing also bought this Disney Playhouse for the children staying on the Ward and their visiting families to play with. The outdoor toys made such a big difference to us, because it meant that when Atticus came to visit he wasn't stuck in a room, but we could go and play together outside, which was really lovely to spend some time together. And I'm certain he thought it much more interesting than his toys at home! Thanks Elizabeth, Nathan, Atticus, Raphael. x

6 years agoWhen we went for the review we took the Ward the items that they had requested with the funds that we raised. These fell into 2 categories: Christmas decorations ( tree/backdrops etc.) and toys & games for the Play Specialist to use with the children. Below is a picture of what the ward looks like with the Christmassy items up. The ward has £316.93 left to spend, so we'll update you when they decide what they need. Everyone on 1C ( and us) wanted to say a massive thank you for the gifts Elizabeth, Nathan, Atticus and Raphael

6 years agoOn 29th November we took Raphael back to Alder Hey for a review of how well his surgery had gone & we are pleased (well, chuffed to flippin' bits) to say that he has had the most sucessful outcome - the right chamber has relaxed and is normal sized and there is enough blood flow through the valve that they made. This is far above any outcome we had ever imagined. Although, they were all very shocked at the size of him (!!) apparently he is already 3/4 times larger than most of the patients his age! Love Elizabeth, Nathan, Atticus & Raphael
