    Story

Helping The Forgotten How To Read

Less than 20% of the Solomon Island population can read. A country of 650,000 inhabitants where 67% of the population is under the age of 30.

We are fundraising to address literacy in the Solomon Islands through the READ SI (Resources for Education to Advance Development in Solomon Islands) initiative.

The £90,000 raised will be used to print 100,000 books that will Help Increase Literacy Across the Solomon Islands.

At this quantity the cost to print one (1) book = £0.90

The READ SI team, a mix of Solomon Islanders and expats, is now taking on an ambitious project – to build and stock libraries right across the Solomon Islands. Making literature available to all is no small task for a population geographically spread over more than 900 islands.
