    Story

On June 1st I am doing a triathlon in Bristol. It's a huge deal for me - I've never done anything like it before in my life! I started The Real Period Project in 2016 as a way to get really good, positive and empowering education about periods and the menstrual cycle out to as many people as possible. I decided to do the triathlon both as a physical and mental challenge for myself, and a way to get the Project out into the world.

At The Real Period Project our vision is a world where the whole menstrual cycle is acknowledged and celebrated as an ally in all our lives. We are developing and delivering high quality and effective education about periods and the menstrual cycle to as many people as possible, regardless of age, gender, race or income. Our first project is in primary schools where we've trialled our first session with boys and girls in year 5. It feels like an exciting beginning!

As part of the project I also deliver A Celebration Day for Girls - a day workshop for girls aged 10-12 and their mother or female carer. It’s a fun, positive and empowering day and every time I see the girls leave walking taller and with pride in themselves and their bodies.

With the money raised in this campaign I want to create a bursary fund to enable girls and their mothers/carer who wouldn’t normally be able to attend still take part in this life changing workshop. Funds can be an issue, and I don’t want this to stop anyone from being able to attend.

The other priority we have just now is re-building our website, so we can reach as many people as possible that way too.

Please let me know if you have a preference for where your donation will go.

Any little help is hugely appreciated. Thank you!

Originally a nurse, I co-founded The Real Period Project CIC in 2016 to make empowering and positive education about periods and the menstrual cycle available to as many people as possible. I have a 10 year old daughter and see every day how important this work is.
