In 2019 the World Scout Jamboree will be taking place in West Virginia, USA. Three members of our group have been selected to represent North Yorkshire and the UK in the North Yorkshire unit. To be selected they have had to use the skills they have learnt during their time in scouting so far at a selection camp. During this camp they have had to work with people they have never met before, show good communication skills and have an interview with the selection team.

Our scouts said “I feel very lucky to have been given a place on such an amazing experience. I am looking forward to developing my leadership skills and to learn about how others scout in their countries. I will be able to use the new skills I learn to encourage other scouts and to tell them about other cultures around the world.”

They have to raise £3700 each to attend the Jamboree, we have already planned fundraising activities including regular stalls, jumble sales and coffee mornings. The money raised goes towards the cost to attend the Jamboree and will help pay the fees for scouts from countries where they don’t have as much money.
