Story
Redland Ladies Hockey Club presents their Christmas challenge: Redland Ladies Take On England!
2020 has not been a good year for travel, but that’s not stopping the Redland ladies doing a tour of England to raise money for the hockey club and partly for charity, the RSPB!
No, no, no – do not fear… lockdowns, tier systems, social distancing and staying local advice is not being disregarded – this is a virtual tour!! Starting at the start of December and stretching across 6 weeks, the club will aim to cover the distance of the circumference of England – 4,775km (made up of 4,422km of coastline and two land borders with Scotland, 96km, and Wales, 257km).
With a collective effort from 37 members, each person has pledged an individual distance to cover to collectively hit our total distance. Some hockey legends pledging up to 400km!!
Dates: Starting Tues 1st Dec – Concluding Tues 12th Jan (6 weeks duration)
Distance: England circumference rounds up to - 4,775km
How: Distance can be covered only by cycling/running/walking/rowing/swimming. - individuals will log and submit distances covered via tracking apps.
Fundraising: funds raised will be split between the club and RSPB.
Thank you for any support you can give! :)

3 years agoEngland’s coast is rather jagged so a few comparisons of our achievement as the crow flies..... - We made it to Las Vegas to play roulette ✈️🗽🗼 - We made it to Botswana and went on safari 🦛🦒🦓 - Funny in comparison due the the amount of islands and jaggedness of the coast in the UK but we made it 2/3’s round the UK coast 12,429km (ref CIA factbook - the distance is not widely agreed on!) 🏝🌍

Redland Ladies Hockey Club
Redland Ladies Hockey Club is based at UWE (Bristol) with a good mixture of players, across a wide age range (13 to 60+!) and playing ability. We have three senior league teams, a non-league Vixens team, a growing junior section and a national competition-winning masters team.
