Weʼve raised £1,350 to help the Syria Civil Defence mitigate the threat of explosive hazards in Syria
- Funded on Monday, 3rd December 2018
Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
According to the UNHCR there are 6.5 Million internally displaced people within Syria, including 2.8 million children. An additional 5.6 million refugees have been forced to flee the country all together. These people are extremely vulnerable as they move to new territories or return to their homes that are newly contaminated with Explosive Remnants of War (ERW). ERW litters Syria causing casualties and devastating lives.
The Syrian Civil Defence along with other operators are systematically recording and destroying these hazardous items to prevent situations like the one shown in the video below.
Geordie Erskine and I are doing the Loch Tay Sprint Triathlon on the 18th August to raise awareness and funds in order to help the SCD. By sharing this message we can help the people of Syria and encourage our governments to prevent these injustices rather than contribute to them. Your support is hugely appreciated!!
