    Story

This page has been set up with the primary focus to assist in getting local Bangor Lads to Portugal for a chance of a lifetime! TO REPRESENT THEIR COUNTRY. To help their team spirit and help put Wales on the map, we‘re looking at support in getting a team kit and support with transport. Below is the story so far... thanks for reading:

The Dog House kickboxing club based on the high street in Bangor started up a few months ago by Darryl Gallagher, an 18 time world kickboxing champion from Bangor. He started kickboxing at the age of 5, due to a lack of opportunities; an 11 year old Darryl chose to travel to Liverpool 4 times a week to train at the world famous Mushin Kai club under the guidance of the renowned martial artist Alfie Lewis. The commitment, hard work, loyalty and ambition Darryl learnt whilst training in Liverpool is now evident at his own gym and through its members, this shows by the amount of trophies medals and they have won already. Darryl’s fight team has so far collected 8 gold medals, 6 silver and 3 bronze in the 3 months they have been competing including a gold and bronze at the recent World Martial Arts Organisation (WMO) British Championship. On Sunday 17th of February 2 Young Bangor Martial Artists from the newly formed Dog House Kickboxing club returned from the WMO British Championship with a gold and bronze medal. Jack Jones and Billy Jones; both 14, won gold and bronze medals respectively at the British Championships as well as qualification for the WMO World Championships to be held in Portugal in September.
