You maybe aware of the community takeover of the lease for the Helston Coronation Boating lake by the local charity South Kerrier Alliance. There is provision for replacement of the existing skate park, but a short fall in the funding of £6,000. I am one of the volunteers who are involved in the group "re-vamp the ramps" that aim to raise the necessary monies to secure what we see as an essential provision for children of all ages within our community and also an attraction for tourists to our town. Without the skate park many children would be left to skate unsafely and often anti-socially within residential areas. The existing skatepark is in need of a major update with planned temporary repair work in August only just halting a full closure. This would be a great shame for the whole community, as it provides a great social hub for young people in Helston.

A fundraising event at Helston Skatepark will be held on the 12th of August, come along have some fun!
