Hi everyone. My name is Rhiannon. I'm a second year Student Nurse, specifically Mental Health Nursing.

I have been given an amazing opportunity to undertake a 2 week International Nursing placement.

This is a phenomenal chance to experience nursing anywhere in the World.

The placement is part of the University course, so is obviously unpaid and must be self-funded. My current situation means that I am unable to fund this, and the thought of missing out on this opportunity solely because of money is crushing.

I am a single mother to an outstanding 6 year old girl. My daughter has additional needs, and due to lack of support, I am unable to sustain a job as well as doing the course full time and looking after my daughter.

The reason I want this opportunity so badly is that I never know when I'll get this chance again. We are blessed in the UK to have the NHS which means everyone gets equal fantastic treatment. Other countries aren't fortunate even to even have clean hospitals or a tenth of the resources we have here in the UK. Additionally, development in Mental Health treatment varies so massively around the world, I feel that being able to see how another country approaches Mental Health issues around the world could give me a whole new insight into Mental Health issues. Suffering from Bipolar myself, I am very passionate about supporting people with Mental Health issues, reducing stigma, and enabling people to feel that they can reach out and ask for help.

I have always been independent, and so asking for help is very difficult for me. I understand that there are thousands of people asking for donations for much more important causes, and I appreciate that not everyone wants to, or is unable to help, but I have to try.

I have given a lot of time, money and energy to helping the homeless, victims of domestic abuse, and people with substance misuse issues, and am hoping that someone will now be able to help me.
