Story
As many of you may already know, my younger brother Craig passed away following a motorcycle accident on the 24th August 2015. Since that date his friends and fellow crewmembers of the Holyhead Lifeboat, along with numerous other supporters have been working tirelessly to raise money for 'The Craig Steadman Lifeboat Fund' so a replacement Inshore Lifeboat (ILB) can be part funded and carry his name at Barmouth Lifeboat Station on the West Wales coast.
I feel it's time for me to get myself motivated and see if I can do my little bit towards their target. But I can't do this alone. On the 8th April 2017, with the support of my teammates Andy, Matt and Dave we will cycle from the gates of the Holyhead Lifeboat Station and arrive at Barmouth Lifeboat Station as a tribute to Craig. It will be a tough 70 miles, crossing Holyhead, Anglesey, then onto the mainland around the coast towards the Llyn Peninsula and on to Barmouth. I haven't ridden this sort of distance for a long time but my stubbornness and determination, coupled with your generosity will get us there. I will also add the official press release below for you to read along with a map showing roughly the route we intend to take.
All that's left to say is thank you for reading, and any thanks for your support.
Richy Steadman.
Any corporate sponsors will be promoted along the way in page updates, so if your business would like to sponsor me I will happily advertise that fact.
I am carrying out this activity to support the above mentioned cause of my own free will and fully understanding that it is carried out at my own risk.

7 years agoOn Saturday 15th April I presented the total figure raised following the bike ride carried out the weekend before. Myself, Dave, Matt and Andy left Holyhead shortly after 8am while it was approximately 4 degrees destined for Barmouth. The temperature climbed steadily through the day and hit 22 degrees at one point. We were joined about 5 miles outside Barmouth by 3 crewmembers who had ridden up from Aberystwyth and all arrived safely at Barmouth around 5pm. £8,300 raised - £27.66 per rider, per mile before GiftAid. Thank you all!

7 years agoThis page will close tomorrow, Wednesday 12th April so we can total up and arrange the presentation. Massive thanks to everyone who has supported us (far too many to name you all!) and to the many who helped on the day of the ride, none of this could have happened without your kindness. Also a big thank you has to go to the crew at Barmouth for their warm reception. The boat will be in good hands :)

7 years agoWe've had a nice little boost to our total after the ride. I never imagined reaching 100% let alone 150%, the support has been amazing so thank you to everyone who has supported us. I will be closing the page on Wednesday so we can announce the total at the end of the week.

7 years agoWe did it! 76 miles with 3000 feet of climbs over the course of the day. Stunning day for it, impressive tanlines all round I think. Huge thanks to everyone who helped yesterday and there's still time to sponsor us and cheer a very sore Richy up 😂 can we get to £3000 before the presentation?

Its 2017, I haven't ridden a bike for any great distance for the last 3 years. I'm overweight yes, stubborn and determined, even more so . With your support I will get on the bike and together we will raise some cash towards the crews target. Let's go!
