    Story

On July 28th I will be tackling the Lakeland50 (LL50), a 50 mile run/hike/walk through the challenging Lake District. The LL50 is regarded as one of the greatest ultra challenges in Europe, and is not for the faint hearted.

The LL50 is almost double the distance of a marathon, it's on rough terrain and there's approximately 3100m of ascent to deal with. The Lakeland 50 is a huge challenge, it requires commitment, drive and the ability to 'just keep going' when most folk would 'just rather not'.

I decided that I need to do this for a really worthy charitable cause, based in my home county of Cornwall - and decided on The Tanya`s Courage Trust.

The Trust's objective is to aid young people fighting Cancer, or affected by Cancer, throughout Cornwall, the Isles of Scilly and Devon by the provision of grants which can be used towards relieving their physical or financial needs. It endeavours to support teenagers and young people fighting Cancer and their families but hope that as the charity grows it can widen the personal criteria of beneficiaries.

Tanya`s Courage Trust has helped many young people and their families: improving the spirit, life and well being of all those attached to the Trust.

The ultimate aim has always been to be involved in developing a Teenage and Young Adult Cancer unit in Cornwall, this is now happening in Cornwall and Tanya's Courage Trust has equipped 2 rooms in the new Headland Unit, Treliske.

Hi everyone Very much in chilling phase now here in the Lakes. At Coniston today having registered, had my mandatory kit check and been weighed. Sharon and Sonny are working as volunteer marshals over the weekend so I'm having a relax (the heat though!?) and waiting nervously for tomorrow morning to come around. Looking forward to a good night's sleep in my hotel in Ulverston then it's all go fr the 2018 Lakeland50! Thank you so much for your donations and support. You are all stars and have really helped me with this challenge. Richard

Thanks for the first donations - you are great people! Injury wise the heels are 'healing" and looking much better. Could be another week but it is what it is.
