We strive to give our pupils with special educational needs the very best that they deserve. Unfortunately, aside from all of the care and attention we provide, we have limited access to the kind of resources and equipment that our pupils need to gain the most from their school outdoor environment. We would love more than anything to enhance our pupils' learning experiences by providing them with more access to the equipment and resources that are essential for their development.

I work at Riverbank Special School as a provider of Outdoor Learning but at present, I have been spending more time teaching in the classroom due to the fact that many of our outdoor areas need work or repair. We all wish that we could provide our pupils with the same outdoor facilities/equipment that the neighbouring school has, but we simply do not have the funding. It is difficult to explain to the pupils why we don't have amazing climbing structures and play equipment for them to explore and make memories from.
Many of the pupils make use of the trees & foliage to fulfill their imaginations, which is fine during 'Forest School' type activities. Unfortunately, the amount of breakage taking place during break times, has had an impact on the nature areas within our school grounds, which has added to the problem.

I will be running in the London Marathon on the 23rd April in the hope of raising some funds to help this cause and to help the school make improvements to the outdoor experiences that we provide. We would love to raise more than £1000, but we know funding is not easy so we appreciate any support that is given.

Our pupils rely on a huge range of physical, mental, social, spiritual and sensory experiences to make sense of their world,.....so any help would be gratefully received!

We are also very interested in other donations in the form of outdoor play resources, plants, grass turf (to fill our boggy holes in the yard), goal posts, etc.
