As many of you will know, Mick took early retirement from the godawful job he had at that place in Cheadle. Those of us who know him best don't know how he managed to put up with it as long as he did and it's highly likely that that's where he contracted Hepatitis C, which ultimately led to his untimely death.
He was living on a pretty meagre pension, but never complained as he felt he had everything he needed - a wonderful woman, good friends,loving family and his amazing music.
Mick was in hospital for over 2 months and Julie never left his side. She is naturally utterly devastated and I'm sure everyone would agree that she deserves anything and everything to help soften the blow.
Mick deserves the very best send off possible, but he was a very modest man and wouldn't have wanted anything ostentatious. So this is an appeal to everyone who knew and loved Mick, and there's a hell of a lot of you out there, to put your hands in your pockets and give Julie a helping hand to give this wonderful, funny, cheeky, talented, generous, caring and allround awesome man a worthy send off to the great gig in the sky.
