Story

Hi there, thanks for taking the time to click the link and I hope you will read my dads story.

Unfortunately on the 6th of December at 3.23am mine and my sisters father and our children’s grandfather, Robbert took his last breath with all his family by his side, we were lucky in that sense to be there for him and we hope that gave him some comfort.

Sadly our dad was battling cancer for the past 8 years, he had a type of cancer that would keep reoccurring. It was not the cancer that killed him but pneumonia that he managed to catch for the 2nd time in the space of 2 months after suffering a water infection for the past 2 years. Over the past few weeks we have watched our dad suffer tremendous pain and suffering, and he did not eat any food in the week upto his death. We realised the severity of the situation on Tuesday the 5th of December that our dad was not going to recover and heaven would soon be gaining another angel. We also realised that his younger grandchildren would never get to meet our hero. Thankfully we have plenty of great memories to share with them and photos.

Our dad was never one to complain about anything let alone his aches and pains and would always have a smile on his face. Our only conciliation is that our dad is no longer suffering.

All my dad wanted was a standard funeral, no flowers, unfortunately we now realise how expensive funerals are and with it being so close to Christmas we are struggling greatly to cover the cost of one and its not fair for dad to sit there for so long till we can raise the money ourselves so therefore we felt we had no choice but to ask for help to cover a 1/3 of the cost.

Any donations would be greatly appreciated by the family and will be put 100% towards the costs of a basic funeral.

We are not usually ones to ask for anything but any help really will be appreciated to give my dad a loving send off and even if you cannot afford a donation, we would also be grateful if you would be willing to share this.
