I've decided to get off my arse for the day and push myself, and complete the 1mile Great North Swim on Lake Windermere.
I will attempting this challenge in order to raise funds for the Special Care Baby Unit at Furness General Hospital, Barrow-in-furness. The swim is being undertaken in memory of a close friend, Dean Zaccarini, who passed away March 2016.
I have never attempted an open water swim before, so it will be an entirely new experience for myself, something I never really thought I would do. But good people deserve good deeds, and so this is for Dean. Many people will have never expected for me to apply for the swim, but many will have known how decent and caring Dean was as a person, how talented he was as a musician, and how loyal and trusting he was as a friend and family member. So I would be extremely grateful and thankful if you could donate to the cause, no matter how great or small amount, and raise money for children who may not have the easiest starts in life, and hopefully help to make a difference.
