Weʼve raised £2,080 to Provide funding for Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis research and/or alternative stem cell treatment if it is suitable or required for Robbie

    Edinburgh, UK
Funded on Monday, 4th November 2019

Don't have time to donate right now?

    Story

My 8 year old son Robbie was diagnosed with Juvenile idiopathic arthritis last year. This is an incurable disease and can vary in severity. So far it has manifested itself in his knee twice and his jawbone. He is in pain a lot of the time.

Those who know Robbie will tell you he is a very happy go lucky wee boy, its horrible to see him suffer.

The outlook for him can range from virtually no affects in his older life to severe disability and sight problems.

We are in The Sick Kids hospital every few weeks and he has had 3 treatments so far. There is a LOT to still learn about this condition and funding is not great.

I'm aiming to raise as much as possible to either donate to JIA at NRAS which will help research and care of sufferers and their families or put towards groundbreaking Stem Cell treatment which is still in the early stages if the doctors say its available or suitable for Robbie. More Stem Cell info here.

2 years ago I did a bike endurance event and swore id never do it again so I think thats the perfect thing to do as its not something I relish. Its going to be a proper challenge and take months of training.

It is a 72km circumnavigation of Ben Nevis from Fort William, the Outdoor Capital of the UK. This is one of the country’s longest point-to-point events; an MTB endurance, enduro and mountain marathon event all rolled into one.

More info on the event here Tour de Ben Nevis Im entering with James McGregor, David Gourlay and Stewart McDaid under the team name Robbies Rockets.

I never ask people to sponsor me and I always sponsor others so please help in any way you can. even a quid will help.

Please note that no costs of the event will be taken from donations, every penny will go towards research or treatment.

Thanks for taking the time to read
