I was involved in a life changing accident a few years ago which left me with really bad injuries that still affect me to this day. My life was turned upside down and will never be the same again. I had a good job and a life that I enjoyed. To cut a long story short I was being prescribed prescription painkillers and I ended up with an addiction that was a living hell because my doctor decided to cut out my pain medication which I was in no way ready for. I was still hooked on the pain killers and in tremendous pain. I ended up taking heroin and that was when my life really spiralled way out of control. I lost my house and many of the people I was close to in my life before the accident. A few years on and I have manged to get myself clean on my own merits and this is why I believe I have learned what it takes to help others who are stuck in this living hell. The so called medical field don't understand what is needed to be successful in this area as they just treat addiction with more drugs and the poor addict ends up swapping one addiction for another. Through study I have found out they do this for profit. This is so sad to me and it breaks my heart. I never thought for one minute this could have ever happened to someone like me but that just go's to show it could happen to anyone. I would love to dedicate the rest of my life to helping others who have through no fault of their own ended up in a similar situation as I did. There is very little help out there and the help that is there is backwards, I know I have a new approach which I hope will eventually be the standard for treating addiction.
