Weʼve raised £3,750 to Help Jodi’s Giants- We’re going to hydrofoil across the Irish Sea to Scotland and back!

    Story

Our little hero Jodi has been through more than most in 2021, as have his parents Jeremy and Lisa. Cancer is such a cruel disease, often striking with no cause or warning. Being diagnosed in March 2021, Jodi has been dealing with this for just over a year. His parents wanted to support 3 local charities in Northern Ireland whom, over this difficult time, have provided unimaginable support.

To help them with this, i’ve come up with a bonkers plan of trying to sail a hydrofoiling dinghy (Waszp) across the Irish Sea and back. So to not be lonely, i’ve roped in my brother in law Matt McGovern to accompany me in his Waszp. We hope to complete this without the need for any outside assistance, sailing from Ballyholme Bay in Northern Ireland to Portpatrick, Scotland and back.

A trip like this has never been attempted in a hydrofoiling dinghy and i’ve no doubt it will be a big challenge. I hope you will get behind us to say “Buzz off to cancer” and hopefully we can raise some money for these 3 very worthy charities.

We did it! Last night, Matthew McGovern and I managed to sail to and from Scotland from Ballyholme Yacht Club in our WASZPs Made great progress getting there- 1hr 30 mins. Back the way, not so much with increased breeze and big rolling waves. Thank you everyone who has supported us during this and for everyone’s kind donations. Thank you to Richard, Joni and Tim for being our on the day support team. To our wives Amanda and Melissa for putting up with us constantly talking about doing it!
