Hi...my name is Jean Corbett and I run Rocky's Rescue. I was inspired to start this rescue when I heard about the plight of street dogs in Romania and Bosnia and fostered my first street dog Rocky.
In Romania and Bosnia, unlike UK dogs, they are killed very cruelly. They are often treated like vermin, they get hit by cars, they are starved and beaten and are very vulnerable to untreated disease, accidents and abuse.
In the dog" shelters", the dogs are not treated humanely, they get battered to death, electrocuted or simply die of starvation and untreated injuries.
The smaller and older dogs often get killed by bigger, stronger dogs in their fight to survive. They are unloved, have never been shown any kindness and live their lives full of cruelty and suffering.
At Rocky's Rescue, it is our ambition to try and help these dogs, one at a time, by highlighting their plight, helping to rescue them from the "kill shelters" and get them into foster placements or loving homes in the UK.
Bringing dogs from Romania and Bosnia is costly but we are very committed. However, the first step on the ladder to running a rescue that can really make a difference is to become a registered charity. In order to do this and increase our chances of saving lives, we need to raise £5000!! After this, the doors will open for extra support and fundraising. Will you join us on this journey?
