What are you going to do?

I’m asking people to sponsor me to do my grade 2 singing exam.

Who are you raising money for?

Leicester Musical Memory Box, the new service run by the lovely people who ran Singing for the Brain. They are a local charity who get people living with dementia and their carers together to sing and have a right laugh.

Grade 2? Wow you must be a half decent singer then?

No I’m a complete beginner. Thought Grade 1 sounded a bit easy though...

What you gotta do for that?

Just sing a few songs on stage at The Shed in Leicester. Pretty straightforward really...

What you singing?

A mixed bag. The Undertones, Lou Reed, James Arthur, Kaiser Chiefs. Oh and the Killers. Mr flipping Brightside ironically...

When You doing that? Can I come?

Get real! mid-july but I’m not telling you when. Time enough for you to commit some money though...

What will they spend it on?

They need some cash to keep the group going, buy songsheets, provide refreshments that sort of thing. And I’m gonna suggest they buy a Velvet Underground song book and a Doors backing track. Think they will go down really well with the olds....

Do I need to sing myself?

No, just send me some pennies. If you havent tried singing, you really should though. It‘s very good for you...
