Last October my nephew George became a big brother to twins – Henry and Annie. Whilst Henry was fine, Annie had several heart issues and was later diagnosed with smith lemli opitz syndrome. Too small for the operations she needed, Annie fought bravely for six weeks before passing away just before Christmas. Her mum Kirsty, though devastated, was grateful for the support of those in the NICU at University Hospital Wales, Cardiff and determined to do something to say thank you and pay tribute to her precious daughter. Together with her family and friends, Kirsty established Annie’s Rainbows Fund with the aim of raising £13,000 to buy a new incubator for the NICU by December 2017.
