Rotherham Abuse Counselling Service is a charity which offers free counselling/psychotherapy, for people who have experienced rape, sexual or domestic abuse at any time in their lives, including childhood sexual exploitation or abuse (CSEA). People who have experienced abuse (especially during childhood) often experience a lifetime of suffering, including poor physical and metal health, many become suicidal.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprogramming (EMDR) is a type of therapy that works by lessening the 'pain' and anguish caused by the abuse. It is an evidence based psychotherapy particularly used to help with the symptoms of post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), which many of our client have experience as a result of abuse... unfortunately this is not the place to explain how EMDR works exactly, but believe me, its great stuff, look it up!

Luckily we have a therapist that is qualified in delivering EMDR, but what we really need is some specialist audio and visual devices to enable the therapist to apply this type of therapy.

At this moment in time, the charity is unable to afford these devices, and this is why we are asking for your help. For £700 we can buy a proper EMDR kit, which will help loads of people deal with their trauma.

That's a good cause, right ???
