FRIENDS OF TARIRO
OUR STORY...
Friends of Tariro (meaning ‘hope’ in the Shona language of Zimbabwe) was birthed out of a death, a dream, and a passion to see hope restored. The epicentre of the story is a rural village in Mashonaland, Zimbabwe called Kazingizi.
A brief overview of the situation in Kazingizi (a snapshot of rural Zimbabwe) does much to give an insight into the motivation to action for Friends of Tariro:
Severe drought resulting in minimal crop production
No school in the area; even the nearest meant a walk of 15km each day
The majority of children live with grandparents due to the life ravaging effects of AIDS.
A desperate need for the minimal essentials like clean water which we have unhindered access to in the UK. No means of financial income for viable self-sustenance
Friends of Tariro is a charity focused on bringing hope to the orphans and children within Kazingizi (and other villages) by providing them with shelter, food, clothing and even life-changing opportunities through education.
