Story
Eight years ago I found myself teaching English in a remote part of Vietnam. After three months on my own Emma came out to join me with the plan of teaching for a year before returning to the UK. Little did she know that she'd end up staying, falling in love and setting up a fantastic charity. What started as taking in two dogs (Boomer and Ruby) and a cat (Jack) whom the charity's cafe is named after, she and her husband Phong now house, feed, care for and love over 70 cats. Their mission is not just to take in strays but to educate and advise the local community as well as providing castration and neutering services and also fighting the cat and dog meat trade. In Vietnam cat and dog meat are a valuable commodity and dog and catnappers will go to extreme lengths to earn their keep, no stray, pet or even human is safe from the violence these criminals use.
To find out more check out Vietnam Cat Welfare and Jack's Cat Cafe on Facebook or http://www.vietnamcatwelfare.org/
To house and feed all these kitties costs Emma and Phong a minimum of $1000US a month. They rely on donations and volunteers to keep the charity going, as well as both working full time jobs.
To help raise a little money to support this awesome charity I am running the Brighton Half Marathon. Those that know me well know that exercise is not really my forte, I am far happier propping up a bar or cheering on others exercising than getting out myself and doing it. However a family wedding lead to the brilliant idea of running the Brighton Half. To help spur me on and get me across that finish line I've decided to raise some money for Vietnam Cat Welfare. Please give generously to this amazing charity, I really hope I can exceed my modest target!
Thank you in advance for your kind donations.
Ally :)

7 years agoThank you all so much for your incredibly generous donations they helped spur me on to a very unexpected time of 2:01:03! I did not expect to get anywhere near that after the injury set back. I couldn't have done it without your support. Thank you for helping raise so much money for Emma's amazing charity xx
