Story
I am running the Great Baddow 2 mile Fun Run on Sunday, 14th May to raise money to support my friend Max Seaman.
Max was diagnosed with Diplegic Cerebral Palsy when he was 2 years old but this disability doesn’t hold him back. He is a bright, kind and determined little boy with a zest for life.
Max will be going into Great Ormond Street Hospital in August to have a life changing operation called SDR (Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy). The operation will reduce spasticity and stiffness in his legs and it is hoped that it will help Max to achieve his goal of walking and then running without his trusty walker. The operation itself is just the beginning. Following this he will need 2 years of extensive rehab to recover his strength and learn to walk again.
Max’s parents are paying for the operation themselves as it’s not available through the NHS. However I would like to raise some money towards the significant cost of aftercare that Max will need to ensure he gets the maximum benefit from the operation.
Any spare pennies you have would have me achieve my goal.
Many thanks,
Mia
