Story
I’m running the Great North Run Half Marathon on 10 September to raise money to help Relate Birmingham fund counselling support for those who can’t pay for it themselves. It will be a real personal challenge but hopefully raising some funding and getting over the same finish line as Sir Mo Farah will be keep me motivated! Any support you can provide would be much appreciated. Thank you.
Relate Birmingham is a local charity helping people build better relationships and limit the impact of relationship breakdown, especially for children. We provide a range of services including counselling, group work, training and family mediation and last year we helped 5600 adults, young people and families in our area and a further 6000 children.
The public sector cuts are hitting all charities hard and Relate Birmingham is no exception, particularly in relation to services for young people. As Chief Executive, I’m passionate about helping people access counselling support whatever their financial situation. All money raised will go towards our bursary for families in financial difficulties.
