Story
I recently found out that some friends of mine hava a really poorly son called called Henry Vinen who is 5 months old. Henry has been diagnosed with SCID (Severe combined immunodeficiency) disorder, which means that his body cannot produce white bloods effectively to fight off the most common of illnesses. As such, he has spent much of the past 5 months in Great Ormond street and has recently undergone a bone marrow transplant from his younger brother Oscar (nearly 2 yrs old). So to help Henry and his family, I am going to undertake an active weekend on September the 16/17th including the Norwich 5k Gung-Ho on Saturday and an organised village 10k run on sunday.
I want to raise funds to support the Vinen family and raise awareness of this disorder which has recently been discussed at parliamentary level to improve its early screening: (https://hansard.parliament.uk/Lords/2017-06-29/debates/9A69A4EF-E7C3-45DD-B16F-077F0C77D154/Queen%E2%80%99SSpeech)
So if you could spare a few quid, I/the vinen family would really appreciate it ;)
