    Story

UPDATE: A few individuals have generously under-written the shortfall in our funding to enable us to pay the QCs fees on time - but we need to continue to raise the funds to cover those costs. It is only fair we spread the expense of ensuring effective representation for the thousands of people who objected to the proposals.

We object to the proposal for incineration at the Belmont site in Sowerby Bridge (Planning Applications 17/00113 and 17/00114). We also object to the application for an environmental permit at the Mearclough site.

After discussion with representatives of the community the Benbow Group arranged expert professional legal representation to put the case for refusal on behalf of all objectors at the Planning Committee on Tuesday 19th December 2017.

The applications were refused by the Committee - which is a fantastic result.

As a result of lobbying by the Benbow Group, the application for an Environmental Permit at Mearclough was called in and refused by the Council's Cabinet on 11 June 2018.

We are continuing to work to defend any appeals.

Please help us to show your overwhelming opposition to the proposed incinerators by donating today!
