Young Rhys Mullan was involved in a house fire at his daddy's house on Boxing Day 2016. Rhys, his sister Leah and brother Ben had gone to stay for the night following a meal out with their daddy's family. Rhys received 1st 2nd and 3rd degree burns to the left side of his face, neck, shoulder, arm, upper chest & upper back. Rhys was transferred to the Royal Victoria Hospital for Sick Children that night and had to go to theatre twice within 3 days to have his burns scrubbed to minimise the risk of infection and help take the burnt skin away before he gets skin grafts. Rhys is only 9 but has shown such bravery and tolerance for pain that the doctors are amazed by his ability to cope with his injuries. This page has been set up to help provide some home comforts for their dad and treats for Rhys, also for his brother Ben and sister Leah who were all in the house when the fire broke out. Ben was a real hero (and he's only 12!) rolling Rhys to put the flames out and once they had escaped through an upstairs window, ripping the burnt clothes off Rhys so that they didn't get stuck in his burns. All 3 children will need a lot of help and support to come to terms with this tragedy. Rhys especially as he faces years of treatments and operations to get him back to his wee self. The family will need all the support they can get as all the children's Santa gifts were all destroyed in the fire as well as everything in their bedrooms meaning that until replacement beds etc are bought they won't be able to go and stay overnight with their daddy once he gets rehoused.
