There are over 100,000 children living in poverty in Birmingham! Harsh cuts from the government have meant that parents are struggling to pay for food, clothing and heating.

At a time like this Birmingham City Council have decided that they are going to close 14 Council run nurseries. All these Nurseries are based in the most deprived wards in Birmingham. 112 staff will lose there jobs and over 600 vunerable children will lose their nursery places.

My name is Saima Suleman and I am the Chairperson of BKWC. This is a Voluntary community organisation which aims to empower women and youth within local communities. As a working mother I understand the devastating impact the nursery closures will have on the parents and communities. I started the campaign for my local nursery Park Rd in Sparkhill and have now teamed up with parents and campaigners from all 14 nursuries we need your help to keep our campaign going.

This funding will help us with sharing our campaign with more people, create leaflets to inform people of the closures, it will help us organize meetings and demonstrations across the city. More importantly it will help 600 children who are in danger of losing thier nursery places.

After hearing their stories, I could not turn my back on the families that use these nurseries. I appeal to you as a mother please help us 'Save Our Nurseries'.
