Story
According to Plan UK’s research on period poverty in the uk;
One in ten girls (10 per cent) have been unable to afford sanitary wear
One in seven girls (15 per cent) have struggled to afford sanitary wear
One in seven girls (14 per cent) have had to ask to borrow sanitary wear from a friend due to affordability issues
More than one in ten girls (12 per cent) has had to improvise sanitary wear due to affordability issues.
In Slough there has been an increase in homelessness over the last year, as well as an increase in people having yo use foodbanks. With tampons still being taxed in many shops and sanitary towels being expensive despite being a necessity for women, many cannot afford basic feminine hygiene products. I want to raise this money to help women, so they are not in uncomfortable position for something that is beyond their control.
Being on your period is not fun at the best of times, so I cannot imagine what it would be like for those who don‘t have the “luxury” of being able to afford pads and tampons.
This is just the start of a project I would like to grow, and would deeply appreciate if you could share with others.
If you would like to get involved please don’t hesitate to let me know.
Thank you for your support- Saleha
One in five (19%) of girls have changed to a less suitable sanitary product due to cost

I’m a 19 year old student, working in the community to try and make a difference. This idea came to me after realising that women on the street must also face that dreaded time of the month, but have little to no resources to take care of their sanitary hygiene.
