Story
Hyde New Homes are fighting to build 32 bleak white flats & houses on the field behind Falmer Ave and Bishopstone Drive, alongside the South Downs National Park (Planning Application BH2014/03394). Although Brighton & Hove City Council refused the application, the developers are appealing against that refusal.
Now, we understand that Hyde New Homes have employed a top London barrister to fight their case and to try to get the Council's decision overturned.
This field had been included in the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty for 40 years & had been considered worthy of being in the South Downs National Park. A strong case is being prepared for a group of local residents to defend the refusal and to make certain this development does not go ahead, but employing experts is an expensive task.
Close neighbours have already raised £1000's between them to cover fees, but a little help would be very welcome please.
Will you help us spread the costs?
If you enjoy walking or riding along the bridlepath by the field, love the views across the site or just don't want extra traffic in the area, then a donation from you, however small, could just help us make the difference and save this piece of Saltdean Countryside for us all. Thank you for visiting our page.
P.S. Why not join us at the Public Inquiry from 29th November at Brighton Town Hall and show your support for protecting valued Urban Fringes?
