Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
Four weeks ago my next door neighbour broke into my house through my back garden and raped me. He was arrested and released pending further investigation and allowed back to his home next door to me. At present the police have stated that further evidence gathering and DNA testing will take up to 3 months to process before he's charged and even when this happens no bail conditions will be attached to restrict him from returning to his home next door. So from the night of the assault up until the court date he will beable to remain at home. The police have also stated that as long as he behaves himself in the interium they will not provide any conditions around him residing in his home.
I have consulted with various services, housing, police, victim support, and social services, as I have two teenage daughters at home, as to how they may support in ensuring our saftey and put in any added security measures during this time as I'm worried about him gaining access through my back garden again. All services state they have no funding to support a new higher fence being built to prevent the perpetrator coming into my garden. I've tried everything and no one seems to understand my need for safety after what's happened, I've more a less been told to grin and bare it for the next 18 months to 2 years for the whole legal process to complete.
At this point rather than dwelling on the negatives, I've decided to try and find a way to move forward and create a solution of my own to remedy my fence so myself and children can feel slightly safer during this really difficult time.
In discussion with an amazing friend a few days ago she mentioned crowd funding and how it could help but it would require me putting myself out there, so here I am in a bid to take back my power and feel empowered rather than ashamed.
Thank you so much for reading my story guys, even that's enough just to know I have support out there, I'm really grateful, so thank you ♥️
