Story
I don't know about you but i love nothing more than coming home to a comfy sofa and a cup of tea!
Our friend is 27 years old and has never had that luxury that we all take for granted. She has cerebral palsy and uses a motorised wheelchair all day until it's time for bed.
I visited her last night and as we chatted she told me she was going to start saving up. She showed me a comfy chair she had her eye on. She said she'd recently been to a friend's house and had a go in their specially adapted recliner chair. She said it felt so wonderful to be able to sit back safely in a comfortable chair.
These chairs cost from £800 to £1500 for something that would be suitable for her needs. She likes the look of a chair that is priced at £800- mainly due to the colour, but isn't this how most of us girls shop?! She would love to have a chair of her very own to use in her living room to relax in front of the TV with her friends and family. She hopes to achieve this by the end of the year.
At the moment we're looking at an empty 'pot'. It feels like this dream is currently so unfairly far away. I'd like to kick start the savings to give her a real boost, get her out of the rigid chair and into comfort as soon as possible.
