    Story

On October 18th 2016 my Grandson, Arthur Michael Andrew Groom, came into this world with kidney failure. Right from the start he was a little fighter. Each day is a battle for him but he is the happiest little boy ever, even though he endures dialysis, surgery and being poked and prodded.

He has spent most of his precious life in hospital with other children experiencing the same problems. The doctors and nurses, along with the families, work tirelessly 24/7 to try and make all the children's time in the hospital as enjoyable and comfortable as is possible.

As a mother and a Nanna I want to be able to give back and pay forward for all the remarkable hard work that goes into caring for these strong courageous children.

With this is mind my salon & staff want to dedicate this year, 2018, to raising funds to help them make it more enjoyable for the children, and a happier place for family members, by supporting World Kidney Day, to raise money for ward E17, and the Children's Renal and Urology Unit at Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham.

During the year we will be holding cake sales, raffles, selling T-shirts, dressing up days etc. to help with raising extra funds. Any donations towards these would be gratefully received.

The money will go towards activities, holidays and residential trips for the children and help provide support for families caring for children with chronic kidney conditions.

The long term plan is to extend the unit to provide, better play and recreation facilities for patients and their siblings, as well as improving the facilities for parents and carers with better waiting areas and parents room.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and we would be extremely grateful if you could donate to help with the cause. We know Arthur, all our family, and the other children and their families you’ll be helping, will be extremely grateful too.
