My wife has lymphoedema of the right arm following surgery for breast cancer as most of the lymph nodes in her right arm were removed as the cancer had spread to them. She is forced to wear a compression sleeve which really does not help the problem. Her right arm is twice the size of her left arm and she has many problems working due to the inability to lift anything heavy with that arm. Any slight scratch or cut in the arm or hand will lead to infection and as a result she has to carry strong antibiotics with her at all times. She also has problems buying clothes to fit her. This operation will dramatically reduce the swelling and enable her to lead a normal life again and stop the depression she gets living with the condition. This operation is not available on the NHS.
