    Story

At 27 weeks pregnant, we were on the countdown. 13 weeks until our baby boy was due and the excitement was heightening.
At a routine appointment on Thursday 16th February 2017 at 5.15pm the excitement was over and our hearts broke. We were told our little boys heart had stopped beating. Innocently and in shock I asked
"how do we fix this?" To be told I had to go into the hospital, deliver the baby and then a postmortem and burial would take place. It was the word 'burial' that made me realise, this can't be fixed. Our little boy was not coming in May, he was comming within the next few days and going straight to heaven.
Our little angel Harry James Peden was born on Sunday 19-02-17 at 7.17am in the Causeway Hospital. The care that both James and I received when in the hospital was absolutely amazing. Everyone was so comforting and reassuring in their own individual ways.
When Harry was born on Sunday we got to spend some time with him, to love, talk to and nurse as you would with a newborn baby. This was thanks to a piece of equiptment provided by the hospital called a cooling cot.
The hospital also allowed for us to take the cooling cot home to have the next 4 days with our baby boy until the funeral. This time was invaluable, and we will be forever grateful for this.
Initially when I found out Harry was going to be stillborn, I kept repeating "our baby boy isn't coming home" and thanks to this piece of equipment, Harry did come home for 4 days and all our close friends and family got to meet him and see how beautiful he really was.
The past few weeks have been without a doubt the most difficult times of our lives. However, through laughter and tears we now have special memories with our firstborn son.
Causeway maternity ward only have one cooling cot, so this is where we need your help, to fundraise to provide another cooling cot in memory of our little angel Harry. In the hope of easing the heartbreaking journey for other families in the Causeway area.
