    Story

Children’s mental health services are on the brink of a crisis, and with more and more young people struggling with their self-belief, confidence and well-being – all issues which can have a profound impact on emotional health – it’s imperative to put practices and services in place to support them now.

An investment was made into children’s mental health a number of years ago, but Young Minds research shows almost half of all areas didn’t increase their budget by the amount they were allocated.

So, we need individuals who have the relevant skills and are also hugely passionate about the cause to come together and start advocating for our young people.

I’m Sarah Griffiths, a former teacher, an author and a mother; I’m organising a unique event in Shropshire which will see 4,000 primary school pupils learn the practices of meditation and visualisation, exploring the themes in my latest book Finding Stones for Grandma which is all about looking for positives and connecting with nature and other people.

I want to offer this event for free to schools across the county, and that’s why I need your support. Let’s come together and make this day the huge success it has the potential to be, teaching children vital skills to combat poor emotional health which will stay with them throughout their lives.

We know 50% of mental health problems start before the age of 14, so that’s why we need to equip children with as many tools as possible to help them thrive and prosper throughout these difficult years and beyond. This event is not a quick fix for all problems, but I truly believe (and know from reviews of my well-being workshops) that the tools they’ll learn will be so valuable for them, and easy to make use of every day of their lives.

This is me and my daughter with the cover of my new story 'Finding Stones for Grandma.' As a mother and ex-teacher I am so passionate about making a difference to children's futures.

I want a bright and happy future for all our young people – the future they truly deserve. With your help, I can make this well-being event and the positive mental health of our children a reality.
