I'm taking part in this year's London Marathon to raise money for 2 worthy causes!

My son Isaac has a diagnosis of Cornelia de Lange Syndrome. CdLS is a rare genetic syndrome. There are four main features in this syndrome. Children with CdLS are small at birth and remain small compared to children of the same age. They are all slow learners but this varies from mild to severe. Many children have limb abnormalities which range from extremely small hands to complete absence of forearms or digits. The most striking feature of the syndrome is that all the children can look alike, like brothers and sisters. People with CdLS can often develop challenging behaviours.

For a number of years we as a family have been supported by the CdLS Foundation, offering support and advice to families. The CdLS Foundation UK & Ireland is part of a Federation of CdLS family support groups around the world. The groups have a common mission: "The CdLS Foundation exists to ensure early and accurate diagnosis of CdLS, promote research into the causes and manifestations of the syndrome and help people with a diagnosis of CdLS to make informed decisions throughout their lifetime.”

I am also aiming to raise money for the local special school that Isaac attends. For over 4 years he has attended Linwood School and through the devoted and caring staff he has progressed and achieved so much!
