Story
I have been a careworker for over a year and during this time have dealt with a lot of aggression. All of which has been reported, and not acted upon, by my company. A few months ago I had my hair ripped out and was slapped by a service user. It was reported and I had to carry on working as I live paycheck to paycheck. On the 5th of August, I was beaten around the head, Pulled up by my hair and knocked unconscious. I had to go to A+E, have a CT scan, and had concussion. I haven't been back to work, I'm anxious about money and more than anything I'm SO ANGRY about the fact that priors were ignored. I've spoken to the police who can't do anything, my work filled out a form and "can't do anything more" so I need to raise money to hire a solicitor and pay rent whilst I find a new job. My depression and anxiety has been affected, I feel useless at work and I just want to get back to my life and prevent this happening to anyone else. The other girls on my team are shaken. I've said the care given 1:1 isn't enough for such an aggressive service. Other team members have been assaulted too. How is this considered "part of the job"???
I just need a little help to try and get some legal action in motion to force the company to reconsider it's values. Thank you so much.

7 years agoI am so grateful that I'm almost at my target- thank you all so much. This money is going directly to my solicitor and rent. I can't express how much relief I feel that I can now undergo this legal fight without having to stress about losing pay for this month. I'm hoping to put something in place to prevent this happening again, not just to me but also to others in my sector. Other people I've worked with, including a very close friend of mine, have also been attacked at work and I'm still disgusted it's seen as "part of the job". It's not.

Support work is vital, but, equally so, who supports the support worker? I'm genuinely sorry you were left in this dreadful situation :(

Every little bit helps right? No one should feel like they're left to fight for themselves by their bosses...
