Nikodem is my precious nephew, like my own son. My Igor is also 6 and toghether with my brother Bart and his partner Anna, we have been raising them close, and they became the best partners in crime making us laugh all the time. They play, they fight, they cry, get fed up with each other, they hug and kiss and say they love each other.

On NYE Nikodem was diagnosed with anaplastic medulloblastoma, 4th degree brain tumour. It knocked us off our feet. Nikodem and his parents only went to spend time with our family over the New Year like they always do. The worst horror was about to begin. First stage was the surgery. We have been told anything can happen at that time. We were catching moments hoping he will survive the surgery.

Luckily he has undergone full resection of the tumour without any side effects after the operation. We couldn't be thanfull enough to the specialists that did such a complicated surgery on our Kodi's brain.

Here is where the next stage of this horrible experience started.This was the only good information we received so far. Each week has brought us news that is trying to take our hope away.

Nikodem has just finished his second chemo. It was much stronger than the first one and thats due to the fact the genotype of the tumor came back and showed we are dealing with the worst possible type of medulloblastoma, the rarest and the most malignant brain tumour. What is more, soon after the surgery the MRI scan showed spread over the spine canal. The doctor described it as a thick and tight coat.

Today, statistically Kodi has very little chances.

In history of the Monument Children Hospital (CZD - Centrum Zdrowia Dziecka) in Warsaw there were only 3 children that were treated for the same type of medulloblastoma. The Polish protocol of treatment is as follow - chemotheraphy, radiotheraphy and sustaining chemo. In each case it failed...

Kodi's leading doctor gave us 'green light' to look for different types of treatmet for Nikodem. Perhaps with help of doctors and parents of children, who won same battle, we will have to create individual treatment protocol for Nikodem.

Up to now, Kodi's parents managed to contact and consult Nikodem's results with St Judes in Chicago (where they hold the best results in treating this type of medulloblastoma on a worldwide scale), with doctors from klinik RPTC Monachium, IOZK Koln and specialistic clinic in Medialan, with experts from Harvard Cancer Centre, and of caurse doctors from clinic in Essen (Germany), and with parents of children, who gone through the same... - everyone say the same - begin protontheraphy as soon as possible.

"Today we are starting the countdown.

Exactly in 21 days Kodi must begin protontheraphy in Essen.

We won't give up. We have really special boy with us, who during second and the strongest possible chemo is singing and moving his body to the rythm of the music he listens to on his hospital bed! Literally.

We continue this battle!!!

We have recently managed to start collaboration with Polish charity called siepomaga.pl where funds for Nikodem's treatment in Essen are being collected.

Through just giving page we are asking you to help us fund all medical costs and rehabilitation.

On behalf of all our family I thank you for the continuos support we receive. It's overwhelming!

However, it's not over yet.

Please keep supporting my nephew and his parents. As family we will go to the Moon if necessary to find help for Nikodem. Financial support is crucial for us to be able to make it on time with the right treatment. We are going into unknown but standing strong. We will not give up!!!
