    Story

We recently recieved the heartbreaking news that our beautiful Effie has b-cell type lymphoma. Lymphoma in dogs is famously difficult to treat as they cannot perform an operation to remove the tumors, instead having to focus on chemotherapy for treatment.

Following extensive discussions with our vet, it has been decided that the best course of action for us to take, will be to see a specialist dog oncologist in the Wirral. As Effie is only middle aged this would provide us with a much higher chance of her making a full recovery and giving her, and us, the time that she deserves, to live a full and happy life.

We rescued Effie aged 3 at a time where I was at my lowest point in life. Following a difficult personal trauma my mental health was at a critical point. Effie was my reason to get out of bed every day, open the curtains, she gave me a purpose when I felt completely helpless. She provided me with the unconditional love that is required to heal from such difficult times and in turn, saved my life. Now the least I can do is try to return the favour.

We have already eaten into a huge chunk of our insurance allowance for the year in getting a diagnosis aswell as a part of her lymph nodes removed. Taking Effie to the specialist could run well into the tens of thousands of pounds which is why we have had to make the difficult decision to try and fund-raise.

We will be so grateful for any donations, big or small, to help save Effie's life. We would also appreciate for you to share our cause as far and wide as possible to give us the furthest reach, thank you so much. ♡

2/2 It's always hard to see her flat our like this, she's usually chatting away, keeping us busy, begging for shnax, but we just try to take the good with the bad and shower her with love and energy whilst she's low. Next week will be the 3rd and final type of drug that she will be on throughout the course of treatment, they are then repeated in 4 week cycles. So we are keeping everything crossed that she will not have a bad reaction as she will have then had all 3 without having a negative response.🤞

Week 3 update: Effie had her 3rd round of treatment yesterday. The vet informed us that her lymphnodes are almost back to their normal size which is a really great point for us to be at already as this means she is almost in the remission stage. He did however also let us know that her white blood cell count is extremely low so therefore we may have to skip treatment next week, depending on the blood test results. Effie hasn't had much energy since yesterday's appointment, so she has been resting up. 1/2

2/2 In the week that's passed she has been full of energy, the lumps in her neck that were bigger than golf balls and very hard have all but disappeared. She hasn't experienced any negative side effects from the chemotherapy so far. This morning she is back at the hospital having her 2nd dose of chemotherapy. This has all been made possible by everybody's generosity and we honestly cannot thank you all enough 💛 going from being scared we might lose her 10 days ago to having our happy girl back is the best gift ever and we are beyond grateful.
