Hello! Five years ago, in the beautiful nature, and just by the ocean in Sweden, there was these abandoned houses. The owners was a small scout association that no longer had the power to give in their nonprofit time to save the place. They planned to sell the houses, which would result in that someone with money could by it and make it there private place. In that case we generally people wouldn´t be allowed here anymore. In our community this is way to common. The municipality are often selling grounds so the generally people don´t have many places left where they can go outside the city. Especially places like this with a large beach plot.

Marsbäcken is supposed to be a place for many associations, especially with children- and youth operations. Here we can let people visit nature without any cost during projects through the associations. Did you know that there´s a lot of children that never has grilled a hotdog above an open fire! Just to provide such a thing, and to see those happy, exiting eyes in the kids when they are out here, are more enough payment for us.

Now we don´t either have a lot of money, but we do have a lot of energy, will and strength, to try to save this place for our future generations. So we started up a new association and we collected paint and other stuff from business near by. The last 5 years we been struggling, but we have survived the banks demands every year. We have arranged Wafer-sundays and fleamarkets to collect money.

Now we are up to a greater adversity than we can manage.

The main building, the heart of the Marsbacken, was built in the beginning of the 1970´s. Nothing has been done in renovation since then, and now it´s become an emergency. The roof is broken in several places, and route wood underneath.

We need this building fixed, hopefully this year. If not it will in a few more years be needed to be teared, and we wont have money to rebuild.

The money we are funding will all go to restoring the roof of the main building you see in the movie. We´ll have to hire a company to do this, and this company has given us a very good price. A lot of work we will try to help them with to reduce the costs.
