Story
We are a Community Group fighting back against all threats to services at Pilgrim Hospital, Boston, Lincolnshire namely Maternity, Neonatal and Paediatrics. We are hoping to raise £500 so we can continue to purchase banners, flyers, fundraising materials and cover the costs to attend events that can help us further raise the profile of our campaign.
We started campaigning in 2016 after the Lincolnshire STP (Sustainability and Transformation Partnership) revealed significant changes to the way Women's and Children's services would be delivered in Lincolnshire. Since 2016 we have campaigned tirelessly to maintain Maternity, Neonatal and Paediatric services at Pilgrim Hospital. We are all very passionate about these services, as we have had our children's lives saved thanks to the amazing staff within the Maternity, Neonatal and Paediatric departments. There is a certain amount of uncertainty for the future of Children’s services & Maternity, due to a major change in the provision of trainee children’s doctors at Pilgrim Hospital.
Sadly in August 2018, despite numerous concerns being raised to our MP and NHS Trust from parents across Boston, Skegness, Spalding, Grantham, Louth, Sleaford and surrounding villages, our Children's Ward at Pilgrim Hospital was closed and replaced with a Paediatric Assessment Unit which only offers a maximum of 12 hour observations. Any child needing more than 12 hours will be transferred to another hospital, potentially out of the county of Lincolnshire. Our Neonatal Unit was also downgraded from 30 weeks gestation to 34 weeks gestation.
This will have financial and emotional impacts on many families in Lincolnshire, not just those who live here but those who are visiting as Lincolnshire.

6 years agoHi everyone. £350 now! Seriously, thank you for your donations for far. These donations are really important in enabling us to continue campaigning and raising awareness! We are just 30% away from our total now. Here is a picture of 50% of the mini SOS - Pilgrim Call to Action team handing out flyers recently. They, along with us and the other 50% of the mini team, will continue to campaign for you, for them and for the staff at Pilgrim Hospital xx
