Story
1) A stray cat in Thamesmead, living in an abandoned garage, often narrowly avoiding being run over by cars coming and going from surrounding garages.
2) A stray Tom frequenting gardens in Belvedere.
3) An elderly gentlemen struggling to care for an older stray cat, covered in fight wounds, in Plumstead.
4) A feral cat colony and litter of small kittens in Shooters Hill.
5) A litter of stray kittens in Golders Green, North London.
6) An 82 year old woman in Plumstead who has had two cats dumped in her home without so much as a litter tray.
These are just some of the enquiries we been dealing with at CatCuddles in the past week or so. Some are newly received and we are waiting for follow up from the enquirers. Others are ongoing and have already required considerable planning, back and forth and work.
And you have to remember that the list above represents only a fraction of the cats in need of our help. We also have a regular waiting list, featuring cats who've been waiting patiently for a place with the charity for weeks.
As each new enquiry comes in the task of getting help to every one of these cats and in many cases, desperate people, seems all the more impossible.
Our two main obstacles when helping cats are a lack of spaces and lack of funds. Whilst donations cannot make spaces happen, they can remove one of these obstacles entirely, and with this pressure lifted, the work ahead suddenly seems surmountable.
Each cat that comes to us requires vaccinations, flea and worming treatments, microchipping, food, litter, heating, fuel and admin costs, and often considerable vet costs; in the case of cat no.3, pictured, this included a FIV/FELV test, plus antibiotics and treatment for his wounds (& neutering).
Please consider donating to cover some of these costs, and enable to help as many cats in need this summer as possible.
